VACANCY – INVESTMENT OFFICER Press Corporation Plc invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the vacant position of Investment Officer tenable at its Corporate Head Office in Blantyre.
Reporting to the General Manager Operations, the successful candidate will play a critical role in assisting the General Manager in managing the Group operations oversight role, develop an investable pipeline, execute transactions, and manage the portfolio. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities of the position will among others include the following functions: Project and Investment Management Function - Develop a strong pipeline of project development investment opportunities through anticipating market trends and employing sector/country knowledge
- Conduct preliminary due diligence on prospective investees
- Prepare investment memorandums, financial models, and supporting documentation for each prospective investment
- Prepare market, country and sector level research analyst reports
- Provide financial analysis and modeling support to the Operations team.
- Provide project appraisal reports, updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Have a good understanding and the ability to structure investments across the financing spectrum from senior lending to equity.
Strategy, Planning and Reporting Function
- Participate in relevant sessions for strategic planning at Group and subsidiary level.
- Contribute to and coordinate in the investments inputs development of strategies at Group level
- Contribute to the periodic reviews of Group and subsidiary strategies
- Assisting the Corporate office in discharging its off-site and onsite surveillance of its diverse investments
- Assist in preparing periodic investment performance reports to various stakeholders including the Board of Directors
- Other duties as assigned to you from time to time
DESIRED PROFILE
We are looking for a hardworking, ethical and dedicated individual with strict attention to detail. Applicants should possess the following attributes: - Minimum of 3years’ professional finance, investment and/or project management experience in at least one of the following disciplines: financial services sector, private equity, corporate finance, M&A or project finance
- Experience with financial modeling, conducting due diligence
- Proven ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-growth environment where everyone is expected to balance multiple roles and commitments
- Self-starter with positive attitude, willing to roll-up sleeves and do the actual work and work independently with limited guidance
- Good networker with solid local network of professional contacts both in public and private sectors
- Good communication and negotiation skills
- Entrepreneurial team player, willing and able to work long hours when necessary and contribute in multiple ways in a growth environment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting and or Investment. Master’s in Finance and or those with professional CFA qualification will have an added advantage
