Today, we commemorate World AIDS Day and stand in solidarity with the 78 million people who have become infected with HIV and remember the 35 million who have died from AIDS-related illnesses since the first cases of HIV were reported. The theme for this year’s World Aids day is ‘Hands Up for HIV Prevention’.

Press Group of companies joined together to remember those infected and all those affected by the virus. World Aids day provides an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show support for people living with HIV and to remember those who have died of AIDS. This day is important because it reminds us that HIV has not gone away. Press Group employees ensure there is no stigma, based on workplace HIV/AIDS policies. While also showing love, understanding and compassion to all individual affected by chronic disease.

According to UNAIDS the decline in new HIV infections have stalled among adults. This should be a wakeup call to all of us as that there should not be any new infections. We must be mindful of all the HIV transmission methods especially the main means which is unprotected sex. We must change our behaviour and for those who can brave their hearts there is the option of HIV testing with your partner.
